A few days ago, a chef competition involving youngsters from 80 participating secondary school was held at KDU University College, Damansara Jaya campus. This time around, the Power Chef cooking competition is fiery, competitive and bold. Participants were put to the ultimate test when they are tested to cut, cook and cooperate with their partners! The competition started off early at 7am. All participants were up early to prepare for this Power Chef competition. From that, I can see how passionate and enthusiastic they are! *applause*
Of course, the competition was judged by the all-star team of culinary experts at KDU as well as guest judges. A group of chef students were also present to provide help and monitor the contestants’ works. To name a few; Chef Razali, Chef Enzo, Chef Darren, Chef Kenneth, Representative from Chef Association of Malaysia, Chef Representative from Nestle, and Chef Representative from Beyond Culinary Chef.

Each team consisted of two students who battled out against other teams from different schools in a series of culinary challenges. Top 12 schools were selected to head towards the final round of the competition and they were expected to produce a main dish, soup and dessert for 2 pax. The final round menu was Puree of Mixed Vegetable Soup, Pan-Roasted Stuffed Chicken Leg, accompanied with Potatoes and Vegetables, served with sauce and Apple Crumble with Vanilla Sauce. I know it sounds so tempting and delicious!!
Besides testing their cooking skills, this competition serves to instill the teamwork spirit into the minds of young too!
So from the 12 final teams, 5 teams were chosen as winners! Team Sugar and Spice from SMK Katholik walked home with the grand prize of RM 4,000 worth of travel voucher with a grand trophy, followed by Team Ruby from SMK USJ 4, walking away with RM 2,000 worth of travel voucher, and Team Le Merry Haijam Sri Aman from SMK (P) Sri Aman, walking away with RM 1,000 travel voucher.
